Controversial Red Tails Movie Earns Respect
The history of African-Americans, the parts that actually get told, are scattered with messages of Black people having to earn the respect of others. A hundred years ago, Negroes were trying to earn the respect of being 100% people and not 3/4 as the laws stated as to keep the Blacks on an inferior level. The mere fact that a Black person could conceivably be smart enough to compete in a White man’s world has been proven time and time again.
In present day America, President Obama has earned the respect of leaders and dignitaries around the world. Some might even say that he is the most respected president in the history of our country. However, to some, that is not good enough. It is not good enough, because he is Black.
The Tuskegee Airmen were more than just an experiment of the Black man’s intelligence. It was an opportunity for the best and the brightest to showcase their gift. The aptitude, depth perception and courage needed to be a fighter pilot is unmatched by any other job. These are skills you cannot obtain. These are skills, or gifts rather, that you are blessed with naturally.
Many people never get to show off their God-given talents. The Tuskegee Airmen got to do more than that. They got to shine and they got respect.
